SPEOS

In SPEOS (Greek for cave), the listener follows a person who reports from his journey deeper and deeper into a mountain. He moves through a huge underground passage system to find the Chamber of Silence: a sonic journey into the unknown. SPEOS deals with topics such as silence, darkness, time and loneliness and can be described as a docu-fiction. The work is feature film length and consists of a total of 30 continuous pieces of music.

SPEOS was originally released as stones with specially designed sound modules: 45 different miniature mountains made primarily of marble – black Basque, yellow Egyptian, green Italian, pink Portuguese marble, etc. The sound stones have been exhibited in different contexts.

Later, the work has also been released as a vinyl record and a book, it has been set up as a sound installation and has been performed as quadrophonic concerts, where the audience has been invited into the dark cave of sound.
